With their series ‘Abide Vessels’, the design duo Truly Truly responds to the fundamental human need of structure. As aesthetically beautiful rituals may be, their main purpose is to bring order to our behaviour and take away the “tyranny of choice” and uncertainty. Both form and surface of the Abide Vessels play with this idea and guide our action: their design forces the user to engage with the vessels in a certain way. Truly Truly use a brutalist form, copper-infused resin and the strong symmetry of religious visuals to invite our imagination: We cannot help but picture the sacred ceremony these vessels were designed for.
