Wim Borst

This week’s ceramics are inspired by brutalist buildings, tubes and pipes, that appear to be made of concrete. On the one hand, Borst achieves his characteristic perfect structure through the use of clay slabs and moulds. On the other hand, the rough, open surface is obtained by adding organic material during the firing of the vessels. It is a pleasure to listen to him talk about his work that is based on years and years of experience. Rather than following trends, he is driven by a continuous perfectionism.
